Day - 9.
Date: 23rd August 2014
Route: Turtuk to Leh
Distance covered: 241 kms.
Again we started a bit early and stopped by again at the stream nearby for pics in the morning. Thanks to tips by my new found friends - Maggi, Ambujesh, Muzammil and others, I was able to click some wonderful snaps (Atleast I feel they r wonderful - I will leave the rest of the judgement to u). We had breakfast at Partapur.
We then took a detour for the Hunder sand dunes where we were met with the Bactrian camels. The double humped ones. There were sand dunes with the wind patterns on them and there was a stream flowing. It was again a wonderful landscape for photography. The clouds gave the whole landscape a different dimension. The rest of the journey was spent enjoying the drive back. And a pit stop at North Pullu for refreshments.
We returned to Leh in the afternoon and after relaxing a bit decided to go to the Shanti Stupa for the sunset. Shanti Stupa is such a nice, silent place on top of Leh and one can see the whole city from there. The sunset was beautiful and we could see the Khardung La getting filled with overflowing clouds. Later we learnt it snowed there.
The lights were turned on the Stupa and it looked even prettier. The Shanti Stupa actually could be seen from everywhere in Leh even from my room in the guest house.
We decided to have dinner at Gezmo's German bakery (it was recommended by Maggi) and we were not disappointed. We had a Yak cheese pizza, chicken steak and a chicken burger and everything was tasty. Yak cheese pizza was great.
We turned in for the night as we had to start our journey early morning from Leh.
